Sports Activities

The students organize regular Sports Days and tournaments. Every year, in August and continuing for a period of 10-15 days, an inter-class football tournament is held in honour of the late great Buddhist scholar, Lal Mani Joshi. The final match is always scheduled to correspond with Indian Independence Day. The year 2017 marks the 29 ‘ year of this event. There is a Premier League Football tournament held every winter, and students also participate in the Gyayum Chemo Football Tournament that is organized by the Tibetan Football Association. An annual Sports Day is held every September 2″ on the occasion of Tibetan Democracy Day. The students participate in athletic games such as running, relay, shot put, and long jump, with prizes for the winners. In January, the students and staff organize interclass basketball tournaments. Students also have facilities for cricket, volleyball, table tennis, and badminton. Since its inception in 2015, the Institute has observed International Yoga Day (June 21*) when all staff and students do yoga together on the campus lawns. A regular yoga class is also offered to the students and teachers from 6-7 every morning.
