One of the main objectives behind the foundation of this University was to teach the younger generation, both ordained and lay students, all the four different Tibetan Buddhist Traditions at one place. Though monks can study Buddhist Philosophy in various monasteries there is no place where a facility to study all the subjects related to the four Tibetan traditions is provided. Especially, there is no opportunity for lay students to learn thoroughly the Buddhist religion and philosophy. The Sampradaya department has four sections:
