CUTS is in Sarnath, approximately 10 km (6 miles) from the city of Varanasi (Benares) in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh. Sarnath is one of the four principal Buddhist pilgrimage sites, it being the place of the Buddha's first teaching after gaining enlightenment. It has important sacred and archaeological sites and an excellent archaeological museum as well as Buddhist temples representing Buddhist traditions of different countries.
Transportation to and from Varanasi is readily available and is inexpensive.
Varanasi can easily be reached by air or rail from major cities in India.
